Pros +
- This property looks nothing like the pictures. This is predatory marketing. This property says they are a 5 star serene resort but they are anything but. The grounds are poorly managed. There are shrubs, weeds everywhere. The trees look like they are partly dead. On the walk to the property there is a large wall with urinals, and old tuk tuk taxi cabs on the grounds. There are animals stray dogs and cats that are lovely but a lot of them are injured. During a walk a beautiful cat limped up to me crying while only walking on three paws. The other she held up. The beach is not swimmable. It is rough, and there are signs up for jellyfish. The sand is rough with little crystals that I would imagine would cut up your feet. The room is so uncomfortable. The bed is hard as a rock. The entire room only has wooden furnishings making it impossible to relax and get comfortable. There are two pillows on the bed. One that was also hard as a rock and the other too soft. They are both tiny pillows. The bathroom is also not inviting. The shower head has soap scum on it. The entire bathroom feels old, moldy and rusted. They did not recently renovate. The island itself is not beautiful. There are plenty in this chain of island that is worth investing time during valuable vacation time. As soon as I checked into this property I demanded to check out and I left immediately the next morning They were agreeable to returning one night but I will be disputing the remaining nights on my credit card due to false advertising.
- Stunning location, try to get a hut close to the spit. Staff was incredible and the restaurant excellent. Felt like a 5 star to a certain extent!
- Amazing location right on the sand
Cons -
- Everything was great, only thing to say is that the village is very quiet. But for 3 nights it is a lovely, luxurious place!
- All the stray dogs. Would be great if the hotel would partner with a dog rescue to provide feeding zones so the dogs would not be in such poor condition. Could put feeding stations around the island to help with all the starving dogs.
- We recommend using the mosquito/bug lotion. Our legs got chewed up.

The restaurant staff and food were excellent. The location at the tip of a sand bar is great. Lovely ocean wave sounds coming into our bungalow.
We recommend using the mosquito/bug lotion. Our legs got chewed up.
Amazing, huge variety breakfast buffet is included. All the villas are very close to the beach; even the "second row" has a nice view of the beach. All the staff were super friendly and helpful.
location wise, there is a lot to do here. But many things require a boat trip to get there. I wish there was more reef around the island to snorkel. But the boat excursions that are offered are very nice and you have a private boat and guide.
Everything. We stayed one night at Sivalai because the room at the orher resort where we were staying had problems. unfortunately it was already prepaid otherwise we would have moved to Sivalai. Sivalai's beach is the only really clean beach in the area. We were shocked at how much rubbish is lying everywhere else. The rooms are not the newest but they're extremely well maintained and sparkling clean. The food at the restaurant is good and reasonable priced. it was really a bliss the night we stayed there.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and assisted us in organising a day tour to the Emerald Cave, Koh Kradan, and Koh Ngai. They were very accommodating to the needs of my family, including my elderly grandmother. The food was of high quality, offering a good variety of options suitable for vegan diets.
Sandflies - The staff warned us, and each room was provided with insect repellent. It's our fault for not putting them on.
Staff were friendly and food was of very high standard.
Sand flies
Comfortable room, the room next to the beach.
Beware of small insects on the beach and garden.
It’s on a peninsula with great beaches and views on both sides. Extremely friendly staff.
It’s a bit dated.
It was very clean, the car that take you to the restaurant was a must, for my husband who struggles walking
The steps into the villa don’t have a hand rail
Sivalai Beach Resort is in a stunning outstanding location. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the beach was calm and swimmable most of the time, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. It was very easy to walk to the village for shopping and multiple food options. The spa experience was amazing!
We didn’t like barefoot breakfast, especially when handling hot food and drinks with children. Also, some guests would enter the buffet with wet dirty feet.
Location is beautiful.
Villas are dated with many upgrades needed. No air con in bathroom, old safes, power needs to be “opened” to work by the bed, room access is via an old school key. You only get one so when you leave your room you have no air con and it’s incredibly hot. Beach towels never in hand and when you get one it’s likely to be small and dirty. Worst part of all are the reception staff. Have never been made to feel like a hindrance at a resort before. Barely greeted upon arrival. Eventually offered a cool drink but only given a choice of alcoholic drinks. The male on reception when I arrived was particularly unwelcoming. Learn to smile and look after your guests. Way, way, way overpriced for what you get.
The hotel is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Koh Mook and stands out with its above-average amenities and cleanliness.
Despite the hotel’s good quality, the price-performance ratio is not justified, making it overpriced for Koh Mook and Thailand. We also booked our onward journey to Krabi outside the hotel for two-thirds of the price.
Sivalai has the sweetest and most helpful staff! Beautiful location and view from our beach front row bungalow. Nice and quiet atmosphere.
A bit pricey
Lovely and tranquil place to stay. A beautiful island and lovely places to eat on the beach nearby. Perhaps a little pricy and our bungalow needed a bathroom and shower room modernisation.
Perfect location, friendly staff who do its best for everyone. This is paradise, well worth the money. Waking up in the beach front villa with that view and taking a morning bath is magical
We stayed in one of the older bungalows for 2 nights and decided to stay an extra night in an upgraded room . These were a lot newer with updated furnishing and a more luxury feel. Both our villas were beachfront which was amazing. Staff were great especially Soon who organised everything for us and we took a private boat over to the emerald cave and Koh Kraden.
Amazing resort on a beautiful beach. We had the beach front villa and the view was unforgettable. The service is top notch and the staff is super professional and kind
The shower
We booked the suite with sea view and although expensive definitely worth it for the location and views, don’t think it is possible to get better in terms of a view and suite itself is absolutely beautiful. Stunning white sand and sea, wow!! The restaurant for both breakfast and other meals were fabulous, staff all lovely. A real gem, will definitely return.
I would have given this a 10/10, but only slight drawbacks were the shower in the suite had very little flow to it and the entrance to the resort is not in keeping of the resort itself as so much rubbish lying around as you arrive.
